Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

Can I come and visit a shop?

Solace is the sister company to Hibiscus Floral Design, and is studio based in Pillerton Priors. I therefore do not own a shop premise with stock for you to see.

I am more than happy to meet you locally at your home address or the funeral directors at a convenient time to discuss sympathy flowers.

Alternatively we can offer advice and support over the phone, on email or via Zoom.

Can we add card messages to the flowers?

I will happily post a selection of card messages to you, I would then ask for them to be returned to the funeral director the day before the funeral so I can attach them to the floral tributes.

Alternatively they can be emailed to me and they will be written up and added to the tributes.

How do I pay?

Solace take payment either via bank transfer or card payments over the phone.

What about those who can’t attend?

To include everybody in the day I can send images of the floral tributes to the bereaved who cannot attend.

Can I collect the flowers?

You are more than welcome to come and collect floral tributes from our studio if you intend to take the flowers to a funeral further afield.

Otherwise you can trust me to liaise fully with the funeral directors to ensure the floral tributes are delivered at the appropriate time on the day of the funeral.

Do you decorate wicker caskets?

Yes I can create floral garlands or mini clusters of flowers which are attached on the morning of the funeral.

I will also liaise with the funeral director to decorate the casket in the chapel of rest.

What happens to the flowers after the funeral?

Should the ceremony take place at a crematorium then I advise families that designs that can be taken away are a lovely idea. Our signature ‘gifting spray’ can be broken down into eight bunches after the ceremony and gifted to friends and family to take home.

If however it is a burial then ideally the flowers would be placed traditionally into oasis or moss so they have a source of water.

What do biodegradable and eco-friendly mean?

It can be a little confusing knowing the difference between biodegradable, eco-friendly and traditional. I’ve covered the basics here.
